The 2026 Sunshine Island Vibe Fest, set to open this Friday (6 March), is rapidly gaining momentum. In addition to an even stronger eight-country performance lineup than last year, the festival footprint has expanded for the first time to include the Kaohsiung Main Station Underground Plaza, forming a dual-venue format with Central Park and drawing widespread attention.
Adding to the excitement, the Kaohsiung City Government recently released a creative promotional video featuring Mayor Chen Chi-Mai appearing alongside representatives from the United States, Japan, the Philippines and Thailand stationed in Kaohsiung. The humorous video has sparked lively discussion across social media platforms and further amplified the buzz surrounding the event.
Chang Yen-Ching, Director-General of the Department of Administrative and International Affairs, noted that last year’s Sunshine Island Vibe Fest attracted over 140,000 participants. Building on that enthusiastic response, this year’s festival has been fully upgraded—from the music lineup and Island Outdoor Talks to multicultural activities and sports experiences. Through relaxed and engaging programming, the festival aims to create opportunities for residents to learn about different cultures through interaction, deepen international understanding and strengthen global friendships.
Citizens of Kaohsiung, visitors from across Taiwan and international friends are warmly invited to join the celebration at Central Park and Kaohsiung Main Station from 6 to 8 March, and experience the vibrant charm of cross-cultural island traditions.
This year’s eight-country lineup surpasses last year’s scale, featuring six-time Grammy Award winner Daniel Ho & Friends alongside popular Taiwanese bands Fire EX., Amazing Show and Mango Jump, who will perform in succession. Other highlights include Nibun Chorus, the Wing Stars and mascot TAKAO from the TSG Group, Station Master Mikan from Kaohsiung Rapid Transit, Thailand’s popular band Whal & Dolph, Indonesian Metal Band Jubah Hitam, and several standout performers recommended by ASE Holdings, creating a high-caliber musical program that blends international and local cultural influences.
In addition to performances, the festival has also received enthusiastic support from corporate partners. During the event, visitors who complete designated stamp-collection tasks at both Central Park and Kaohsiung Main Station will have the chance to win prizes including United Airlines round-trip tickets between Kaohsiung and Tokyo or Taipei and Guam, accommodation vouchers for a Classic Room at Hotel Nikko Kaohsiung, and dining vouchers for Hishou Japanese Restaurant at Hotel Nikko Kaohsiung and HAWKER Nanyang Restaurant at the InterContinental Kaohsiung.
The dual-venue stamp-collection activity encourages visitors to explore activities at both Central Park and Kaohsiung Main Station, allowing them to experience the full range of festival programming while giving them the chance to win exciting prizes along the way.
The festival also features a wide range of cultural experiences, including six Island Outdoor Talks and the Southeast Asia Mobile Library. Interactive photography exhibitions at Central Park and Kaohsiung Main Station will showcase the diverse lives and stories of migrant workers and new immigrants through visual narratives. Visitors can also explore an international brand market featuring Taiwan, the United States, Japan, the Philippines and Thailand, along with hands-on craft activities and the FamilyMart X Pearl S. Buck Foundation interactive zone, offering a one-stop showcase of multicultural lifestyles.
Meanwhile, multinational sports experiences will add further excitement. Visitors can try Sepak Takraw, the traditional Bamboo Dance, and Pickleball, as well as participate in Philippine family games, creating a welcoming environment where people of all ages can join in the fun.
The 2026 Sunshine Island Vibe Fest is jointly organized by the Department of Administrative and International Affairs, Kaohsiung City Government; the American Institute in Taiwan, Kaohsiung Branch Office; the Japan–Taiwan Exchange Association, Kaohsiung Office; the Manila Economic and Cultural Office, Kaohsiung Extension Office; and the Thailand Trade and Economic Office.
Special appreciation is extended to the festival’s supporting partners, including ASE Holdings, Quilter International Enterprise Co., Ltd., Taiwan Fu Hsing Foundation, FamilyMart, the Pearl S. Buck Foundation, and Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation.
