A star-studded lineup from seven nations, an exclusive photography exhibition, outdoor lectures, and a multinational marketplace—all in one spectacular event! The Kaohsiung City Government, in collaboration with partners from the U.S., Japan, the Philippines, and Thailand, brings a vibrant multicultural experience to the Sunshine Island Vibe Fest. Renowned director, producer, and winner of the Golden Bell Award, author, and winner of the Taiwan Literature Golden Award will engage in cross-disciplinary dialogues. Additionally, One-Forty and the Taiwan Fu Hsing Foundation will co-present an exclusive interactive photography exhibition, while FamilyMart will launch a special pop-up store dedicated to Southeast Asian migrant communities. Chang Yen-Ching, Director-General of the Kaohsiung City Government’s Department of Administrative and International Affairs, emphasized that this event integrates elements of cuisine, cinema, literature, and music to showcase Kaohsiung’s inclusive and diverse spirit. Everyone is invited to gather their friends and head to Central Park on February 22 and 23.
More exciting festival features unveiled! Beyond its impressive seven-nation performance lineup, the Sunshine Island Vibe Fest will transform Central Park’s green spaces into a dynamic outdoor forum. The Kaohsiung Public Library will deploy the "Southeast Asia Mobile Library," offering over 2,000 multilingual books for visitors to explore.
A stellar lineup of guest speakers will grace the event, including Taiwan Literature Golden Award-winning author Yung-Ta Chien, Phil Tang—the Golden Bell-winning producer of The Outlaw Doctor—and its director, Shih-Han Liao. Other notable speakers include Dr. Wei-Shin Tsay, Chief Executive of the Kaohsiung Friends of Indonesia Association, Filipino DJ Cristian Kalalo, Kevin Chen, founder of One-Forty, and Richard Laxamana, an outstanding migrant worker recognized by the Taiwan Fu Hsing Foundation. Together, they will discuss how film, music, and literature capture and connect the lives of migrant workers and new immigrants in Taiwan. The Manila Economic and Cultural Office in Kaohsiung will also host talks on financial management, weaving craftsmanship, and study tours in the Philippines.
One of the festival’s exclusive highlights is the “Interactive Photography Exhibition”—a collaboration between One-Forty and the Taiwan Fu Hsing Foundation that showcases migrant workers’ and new residents’ perspectives. The exhibition features a large-scale mirrored installation designed to encourage warm interactions between Taiwanese locals and migrant communities, with vibrant tropical island themes making it a must-visit photo spot!
Dedicated to promoting a migrant-friendly environment, FamilyMart will introduce a Southeast Asian-inspired pop-up store at the festival, featuring a limited-edition food truck serving authentic Southeast Asian delicacies. Engaging mini-games will also be available for visitors to enjoy! Additionally, iPASS, in partnership with PhilMoney, will introduce cross-border remittance services designed specifically for migrant workers and new residents in Taiwan.
